Snapped on (and off) campus

Security gets a new look
If you’ve noticed a change in the swagger of our on-campus Security team lately, it could be the fresh new uniforms they have been sporting since last week. If you need any assistance while on campus, the friendly team can be approached in person or contacted on ext 7112 (ext 9999 in an emergency). The Security Office, located in C1A (across the road from the Library) is open 24 hours, every day of the year.

Macquarie pledges to Close the Gap in Indigenous health equality
The Office of Indigenous Strategy, Walanga Muru, thanks the Macquarie community for their support of a very successful Close the Gap day on Thursday 17 March. Special thanks to the Office of Sustainability and Macquarie Oxfam Australia who partnered with Walangu Muru for the event.

During the event, staff and students were able to pledge their support for closing the gap in Indigenous health equality, place their hand print on a banner for Oxfam, apply a closing the gap tattoo, and have their photo taken in front of Close the Gap posters.

The support from the Macquarie community for raising awareness of this significant day in the Indigenous event calendar was overwhelming and the team looks forward to working with new supporters in the future. There will be many more opportunities during the year for staff and students to get involved the Walanga Muru office, so watch this space for more exciting Indigenous events in the lead up to Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
